I'm Sarah. Daughter of the living God, fresh out of high school; sales assistant; worship intern; and now blogger. I live in the beautiful little country of New Zealand. I'm a part time worship leader and full time Christian. I'm so pleased you've stopped by!
I'd love to share a little bit of my story so we can get to know each other better. Here's my journey up until now;
Ever since I was a tiny tot, I've loved to perform and be on stage. If I'm being honest, nothing has changed - except one thing. Now, I'm on stage to glorify the God who created heaven and earth. It was a long journey (17 years and 7 months to be exact) to get to where I am now, but definitely one I wouldn't change for the world.
I moved to New Zealand from South Africa in 2005. I really don't remember much of South Africa because I was so young, but that doesn't matter. Once we were in NZ, my parents tried to get me into a secular primary school - thankfully those schools wouldn't take me (don't ask why) and I found myself enrolled in a private Christian school. The school was quite small but I didn't mind. Because I was young, all I cared about was running around at lunch times and gossiping with my friends.
I've grown up in a very Christian family, church every Sunday was the norm for me. So going to a Christian school is all I've ever known. I did primary and intermediate surrounded by Christian teachers, and nothing changed in high school - except the size of the school. If I was going to get all sappy and cliche, that school changed my life.
As I said earlier, I've been going to church every Sunday, ever since I can remember. So much so, it became more of a chore than a want (cliche, once again). One thing I did love was Christmas productions and Sunday school. I ADORED Sunday school. I thought it was the best thing to ever happen as a kid.
As I entered into the youth group era, my vocal talent was discovered by the youth pastor and he put me on the youth band as soon as he could. I was the youngest on the team at the time, and all the older kids helped me and taught me everything I know today. I'm still very good friends with most of them! After a few years of youth band, one of my best friends/mentors/worship co-ordinators at the time asked me to join Sunday morning band. I slowly started getting more and more responsibilities and before I knew it, I was a worship leader.
When I hit year 13 of high school (literally last year), I was named worship leader for the school. It was one of the most exhilarating, frightening, stressful, eye-opening years of my life. I learnt so much about music and organising, but the most beautiful thing was that I experienced God. I grew as a Christian and thanks to experiencing Him and growing up in a Christian home, on April 10th 2016, I devoted my life to Christ as a full-time Christian. I couldn't be happier.
I had always planned to go to University after high school and do a Bachelor of Music, and while I was in the middle of filling out the application forms, God stopped me and showed me another path - being a worship intern. I went to talk to the worship co-ordinator as soon as I could and honestly, everything fell into place so fast - a clear sign to me that God wanted this from me.
Over this past summer (2017) I went to a youth camp that I go to every year. I was in the band this year and after quite a few different signs, God called me into ministry (long story for another day). It was the call I had been waiting for my whole life.
Writing a blog was placed on my heart a few days after camp was finished. I sat and prayed intensely about it because I've started many blogs in the past, and I never stuck to one of them. But after a lot of thought and prayer...
THE WORSHIP INTERN BLOG WAS BORN!
Here I'll be sharing my favourite tips & resources, my own journey as an intern, encouragement, and revelations on the way. Hoping everything put on here is written by God, typed up by me. I hope this space is a source of encouragement and inspiration for you in your journey of faith. I'm here cheering you on!
I'm crazy excited about what God has planned for you & me this year! Thanks for joining me on this adventure!
